Principles of Discipline

An Extract from the Secondary School's Code

PRINCIPLES OF DISCIPLINE

(Section VIII Rules 56)

                  Heads of schools shall see that the principles of discipline are properly observed. Regularity and implict obedience should be insisted upon, politeness and courtesy in speech and conduct, as well as cleanliness of dress should be inculcated.                                                            

      Pupils should realise that they are responsible to the school authorities not only for their conduct in the school but also for general behavior outside. Any reported or observed objectionable conduct out of the school on the part of pupils would make them liable for disciplinary action.

          Parents or guardians are given to understand that they cannot dictate to the management and that the management has a right to say on what condition they will admit or retain pupils in their school provided such conditions are in conformity with the code and the instructions issued by the Director or the Education officer concerned from time to time. Pupils shall not take part in any political activities.

          Any pupil who is persistently insubordinate or is repeatedly of wilfully mischievous or is guilty of malpractices in connection with examination or has committed an act of serious indiscipline and misbehavior or who, in the opinion of the school has an unwholesome influence on his fellow pupils will be removed by the Head of from the rolls and reason thereof recorded in writing. The matter should be reported immediately to the Education Officer concerned and in no case later than 7 days of explusion with the name of the pupil expelled by him together with full details of the reason for the action taken.

To ensure better discipline in the school, warning cards be issued by the class teachers with the approval of the Headmistress and accordingly are framed the following rules.

A warning card will be given.

1. After three late marks.

2. Absence for more than 3 days without concrete explanation to the class teacher.

3. After getting 3 remarks on the calendar from the different teachers regarding misbehaviour in the class or for not doing homework, etc.

4. If the student leaves the class, during the class hours and is found roaming about, without a note of the teacher and the date.

5. If the student is not in his / her complete uniform or is untidy after warning 3 times.

6. If a student damages any of the school property

7. If the student calls a friend or relative in the, school premises.
